Watercolors & Coffee

I started out painting with oils after a friend left a box of various art materials on my front porch in Bloomington, Indiana. Eventually I tried watercolors and found it to be very challenging and a more enjoyable medium to work with.

At some point I decided to try painting with coffee. It has a limited range and requires a lot of over-painting to obtain truly dark areas. After several experiments with various grounds and brewing styles I concluded the best solution was using instant coffee as the base, mixing in leftover coffee and plain water.
